What’s the SiriusXM Commander Touch?
The Commander Touch is a touchscreen radio designed to be fully integrated into your car. But since the back of the radio features the same mounting pattern as modern Sirius & XM radios, the radio can easily be mounted to your motorcycle handlebar as well.
Is the SiriusXM Commander Touch a Dock & Play radio?
The Commander Touch not a Dock & Play radio because there is no dock. Dock & play radios like the XM Onyx or the Sirius Starmate require a car or home dock. The benefit of having a Dock & Play radio is the flexibility to move it between different locations. The advantage of the Commander Touch is that you won’t need a dock. And since there is no dock, your radio is likely to have a longer lifespan. The constant rattling of the radio and dock in a car/motorcycle can wear down the pins of the radio.
A couple of things to keep in mind with the Commander Touch on a motorcycle:
- As a dedicated radio, you can’t move it indoors like you would with a traditional dock & play radio.
- With the rain cover, we recommend taking it off during use, so that you can reach for the buttons easier.
How do I mount it to my bike?
With our Motorcycle Mount Kit! Since the Commander Touch was made for the car, you would disregard all the car mounting accessories that come in the box and use our motorcycle mount kit instead. The Motorcycle Mount Kit will fit most average-sized motorcycle handlebars.
Note: The Commander includes the NGVA1 (a 23 ft. antenna cable). For a shorter antenna, we carry the 8 ft. cable (sold separately). The Motorcycle Mount Kit includes a pedestal for you to place the car antenna.
